- THE OLD CATHOLIC CHURCH
Sometimes there is confusion over churches that use catholic in their name even though they do not belong to the Catholic Church. One of these that continues to be a source of confusion in our diocese is the Old Catholic Church. The following is an official announcement from the Diocese of Orange regarding marriage. As a Catholic it would be wrong to receive any sacrament or service from this church.
All the Churches under the title of “OLD CATHOLIC CHURCH are not in communion with Rome, therefore, they do not belong to the Diocese of Orange nor the Roman Catholic Church. Just to name some of them, there is St. Matthew in Orange, St. Jude in Huntington Beach, and San Juan de los Lagos in Santa Ana.
As a note of special caution, it is pointed out that Roman Catholics are to be married according to the proper canonical form ( that is, before a validly ordained and delegated Roman Catholic priest or deacon in good standing). Any wedding performed by one of the priests or ministers in Churches with the title of “OLD CATHOLIC CHURCH” would be invalid for a Catholic.
As Catholics we continue to pray for the unity of all Christians and especially the return of the Old Catholics to the fullness of Catholic faith.

- DEAR PARISHIONERS,
You will recall that a few months ago, we asked you to sign a petition asking that Sarah’s Law be placed on the November 4th ballot. Sarah’s Law was named after a 15 year old girl who died four days after an abortion left her physically damaged and suffering from what would turn out to be a fatal infection. The procedure carried out on her was secret and unknown to her parents. If approved, Sarah’s Law will require a physician to notify a parent or other adult family member before performing an abortion on a minor girl under the age of 18. In case of an abusive home, Sarah’s Law will ensure that young girls in this situation are protected by providing that, if she reports abuse by either parent, the physician could instead notify another adult family member. Thank you for joining the over 1.2 million people who cared enough to sign this petition!
