PASTOR'S CORNER
| July 06, 2008 For the past few years we have all been struggling with an air conditioning system that over time is not able to cool down our church. The present system is at least 40 years old and over time it has been mended and retooled on a number of occasions. In collaboration with the Finance Council I decided to replace the whole system. The last few times that we had the unit worked on, we were told that it was a matter of time before the whole system would collapse. After considering different options and companies, we have decided to go with C.C.c.c. Heating and Air Conditioning, Incorporated out of the City of Orange. All new condensers, furnaces and units have been ordered and will be installed and running by June 16. It seems that we are on to a very warm summer, so I am glad that we moved on this early enough to have our new system in place before a major heat wave. There are two things I would like to ask. During these warm weeks it is necessary to keep the doors of the church closed. Every time a door is left open, cold air that has been built up in the church escapes. If you see a door propped open, please get up and close it. Everyone will bless you for it! Finally, please remember that projects like this, to upgrade the air conditioning of the church, take money. These are times to be careful money-wise but please remember that we need to maintain our Sunday collection and our PSA to be able to provide the basic amenities. Our Sunday collection needs to really hit around $22,000 to cover operating expenses. Our PSA needs a shot in the arm right now. If you have already pledged with your registered family name, adult members in the family can still help by pledging individually. Each separate gift counts as a pledge. If you have not pledged yet, can you or a member of your household over the age of 18 pledge $20? This would be a great help to us. Envelopes are in the parish office and in the vestibules. This may seem a different theme for the Pastor’s Corner, but it is an opportunity for me to keep you in the loop as to decisions made for the parish and to keep you informed about important programs like the PSA. Please support the parish that we all love so much! To all those who have pledged and to those who give on Sundays, I am very grateful for your palpable investment in our parish - I am certain that God will bless you for your generosity. We will be able to take care of the basics, bring new ministries to the parish, build up existing ministries, and pay our bills on time because of you. As far as I am concerned the money you are able to give to our parish church always makes the difference and moves the mission of Christ and the Church ever forward. |
