Confirmation IWith the understanding that Confirmation is a gift freely given from God, the overall learning objective of the first year of the Confirmation journey is to lead the candidates toward a more intimate relationship with Christ and a deeper understanding of the Catholic Church to further prepare them as disciples of Christ. During orientation, each candidate receives a workbook that contains important material for each class session. Candidates in the first year of the Confirmation journey typically go on retreat in the fall (October or November). Retreats are a special way to reach out to young people. They can be powerful, life-changing events. It is a time to get away from daily routines and pressures and provide an environment to grapple with faith issues, learn new ways to pray, and celebrate faith in new and different ways. During the weekend, we will pray and play together as one community and as one church. Candidates are transported via chartered motorcoach buses from St. Cecilia Church to a retreat camp in the mountains on Friday evening leaving approximately 5pm and returning to St. Cecilia Church on Sunday at approximately 4pm. |
